FAQ
What is a CSA?
CSA is an acronym for Community Supported Agriculture and is a farming model based on a relationship between the farmer and the patrons of the farm. The members support the farm by purchasing a “share” in what we grow each season. Members also share the risk associated with farming- unpredictable weather conditions, pest, crop failure, natural disaster, etc. In exchange for your investment, members receive the very best of what we harvest throughout the growing season. Your purchase also supports our local economy, builds community, and helps us continue to operate as a local farm.
What does being a CSA member entail?
CSA members pay upfront, before the season gets under way, in order to help us as we plan for the next season. As a CSA member, you commit to picking up your bouquet each week at your pick up location of choice. You are not required to work, but we hope to have volunteer opportunities for those who are interested in getting their hands dirty.
Can I preview what will be in each week's share?
Yes! We will send out weekly newsletters letting you know what flowers will be in that week's share as well as care tips and general news about the farm.
I signed up for the CSA. When will my CSA begin?
Because weather plays a crucial role in harvest times, we cannot guarantee an exact start. As we get closer to the spring, you will receive an email notification with the exact start date of your share. Please make sure to add our email ([email protected]) to your contacts list to prevent our newsletter from being caught in your SPAM folder.
I'm going on vacation. Can I move my pickups to a later week?
If you will be out of town, we encourage you to send a friend or neighbor to pick up your share in your place. Unfortunately we cannot extend CSA shares to accommodate missed pick-ups since our seeding and planting schedules are finalized months in advance in order to plan our CSA distributions accordingly.
Can I order extra flowers to pick up with my share?
Yes! You are welcome to send us an email with 24 hour notice and we'd be happy to add an additional flower order to your CSA share.
Will my share be held over the next day if I cannot make my day's pickup?
We understand that emergencies occur. In the event that you cannot make your pick-up, it is up to each of our partner locations' discretion as to whether your share can be held overnight. Please keep in mind that our partners have volunteered their spaces to host our CSA pick-ups and they will not be responsible for keeping shares overnight.
What happens to my share if a natural disaster occurs that wipes out the flowers?
We are entirely at the mercy of Mother Nature. While we make every effort possible to mitigate crop losses, extreme weather (drought, flood, hail, etc.) can significantly impact our crops and availability of certain flowers for the CSA. By signing up for a CSA, you share in both the risk and rewards of farming with us. In the unlikely event that we loose a crop, we cannot provide a refund. However, we will do our best to provide you with eight weeks of flowers (even if those weeks are different than the ones you signed up for (due to weather, etc.) We will work tirelessly to make sure we're prepared for whatever nature has in store!
